Super nice and crisp UTA Button Of Rhode Island. Beautifull condition both front and back, with almost 100% gilt on the front and a solid stand up shank on the back. The front has the initials UTA, crossed cannon with the date 1775 with coiled rattlesnake above, on a lined field. 2 piece with border. I have seen a 1870-1880 period jacket with these buttons on it, this button is questionable to the civil war period. Overall a really super button.

Here are 3 nice flower buttons of the period, the first top left one is a 1 piece convex with tight shank. The floral petal design is indented to the button with a smooth top finish. Backmark of Richcolor/gold with a double circle below. 22mm in size. The second and smallest of them has a flat one piece, floral petal style, with the full tight shank. Worn around the edges. Backmark of Wardhans.Coe& Co double gilt/ best wt floral petals in inner ring. 17mm in size. The third is a 2 piece again with a tight shank. This one has star petals & dots around the edge, which is worn. Has a nice big floral petal with nice double line detail under Backmark of Benedict & Burnham extra (rmdc). This is a pre civil war button. 22mm in size

Here is a very nice 2 piece flower button,kink of a pendant style design with a nice front, has most all the gilt, the back has the shank ,and is solid. There is no backmark on the back.

Really neat post civil war button, non dug condition. The signal corps was created in @ 1860, but not until @ 1885 were there buttons made for this branch of service. This is a staff button in overall fine condition, the device shows two crosed signal flags with the burning torch in the middle, with 36 stars surrounding. Button has a really sharp face,with beautifull detail. Solid as can be back, a little dirt on the back.

Another really neat post civil war button. Here is a pristine non dug coast guard button. Perfect face and very good back with tight shank. This is a two piece with border and rope circle. This one has the rope passing over the shank. Also the eagle faces left, which puts it in the 1915-1940 range of manufacture..

Button has a really sharp face,with beautifull detail. Solid as can be back ,and not a nik, scratch etc on it. Button was made from 1840 through the civil war and after.

Smaller size, nice condition. Made Around 1820s-1840s,low convex, two piece. This one has never been cleaned, and shows a dirty appearace and once cleaned i am sure the eagle and A will pop right out, you can discern the backmark under magnification,has stand up full shank. The front also has a slightly dirty appearance but has crisp detail, with a good patina, has no pushs or cracks, sound button. Recovery unknown, but got from Lawerence C years ago.

Smaller size, nice condition. Made Around 1855-1865,high convex, two piece. The face of this dug button has a lot of gilt left to it and shows very well. Back mark is a little hard to read, but has a solid shank and back. Recovery unknown, but got from Lawerence C years ago.

Smaller size,Very nice condition ,excavated button. Made Around 1830s-1840s,low convex, two piece.These were used again in the Mexican War but pop up at Civil War sites quite a bit. This one has never been cleaned, and shows a dirty back ,although you can discern the backmark,has stand up full shank,but a little bent. The front also has a slightly dirty appearance but has crisp detail, with a good patina, has no pushs or cracks, sound button.Recovery unknown, but got from Lawerence C years ago.

- Outstanding,one of the hardest cadet buttons to find in any condition, rare dug example found near Petersburg Va. Coat size, with a fairly good push in the face, although the face has very good detail. Has no gilt left at all ,but a great showing button. Made in the late 1850's. Worn by the cadets before it became Western Military college in the late 1850's. Stand up original shank, backmark shows very well,has no cracks, bends. A eagle surrounded by a cannon and flags on a lined field, and holds a shield with talons. Cadet on top with "N.M.C."at bottom.

Real nice excavated local, cast white metal infantry button, coat size.Has been cleared on the face. Back has the spike anvil and the shank is in very good condition ,integral to the button.
This is a nice representation of a cs local made button.

C. S. Army Officer mid size button with high relief on the motif. Super detail front with the confederate eagle on a pedestal with a lined field, surrounded by the 11 stars. The front is a little dirty, and I am not going to clean it, I will leave that up to the lucky buyer. Has the slightest bit of wear on the tops of the wings. Once again not a nik, scratch, or ding in the front or back. The back is crisp with good detail on the backmark, showing the graphic depicting the lion and unicorn surrounding coat of arms. Also has the S&K mark right by the shank. Full stand up tight shank. Although not that rare a super detailed button once again.

Absolutely superb, outstanding condition - C. S. Engineers officer large size button. This convex, two piece, has a super detailed stippled old English "E" on a plain field. It jumps out at you when you look at it. Once again not a nik, scratch, or ding in the front or back. The back is crisp with good detail on the backmark. Full stand up tight shank. Although not that rare, a super detailed gilded non dug button once again.

WOW - Stunning bright as can be, absolutely superb, outstanding condition - C. S. N. Navy large size button. This convex, two piece, with rope border, depicts the crossed cannons with fouled anchor design on a lined field with "CSN" below. Has a single barrel band on each cannon. Along with the anchor flukes beyond the cannon. has super detail on the face, with barely a mark on it. The motif jumps out at you when you look at it. Once again not a nik, scratch, or ding in the front or back. The back is crisp with good detail on the backmark. Full stand up shank, although a bit loose. High quality english made button, for confederate officers.

This is an excavated lined roman "I" on a plain field. The lines in the I show up quite well. Shows a great patina, with some crazing and a nice dent in the middle of the I. A lot of them have this. The button was made by Smith, Kemp & Wright. It is a two piece convex button. This is one of the most comman of all buttons. This one has the tight back and a stand up shank. Backmark shows well and in overall nice condition.

Another outstanding condition button, but a little dirty. Imported through the blockade. Convex, two piece, lined roman "A", has great detail on the face, with barely a mark on it. A little bit of wear on the front. Once again not a nik, scratch, or ding in the front or back. The back is crisp with good detail on the backmark, also with a slight bit of wear. Full stand up floating shank, typical of Tait buttons, . Beautifull to look at. Could be better if cleaned I think.

Beautifull, beautifull, perfect example, high quality English manufactured, two part convex coat size button. Stippled Roaman "R" on a plain field. Another outstanding condition button. Once again not a nik, scratch, or ding in the front or back. The back is very crisp with great detail on the backmark. Full standing tight shank. Very Beautifull to look at with attractive gilding all around, non dug.

Real nice Virginia Militia one piece British made button. Made @1825-1835, this scarce button is convex, one piece. Showing the Virginia coat of arms on a plain field "Sic Semper Tyrannis", with virtus' spear shaft behind Tyranny'S head. Two hills on left background. Although orginally silver plated it now has a darker green patina. Once again not a nik, scratch, or ding in the front. The back is very crisp . Full standing tight shank. Very prisitne, (although dark in color now)non dug outstanding example.

Real nice showing infantry regiment cast pewter, 1 piece war of 1812 - 15 button. These have a foliated I, with oval below, showing the five pointed star facing up. Usally no back mark and this one is so. The face really shows well, most of the time these are worn down and hard to see, not this one. The shank is gone, but is made up for in the face. This is a fine dug example of this early button.

Real nice showing artillery regiment cast pewter, 1 piece, issued @ 1813-14 button. These have a foliated A, with oval below, showing the number 1 indicating the first regiment. Usally no back mark but this one has a stand up solid shank. The face, which most of the time are worn down and hard to see,is sort of that way on this button, but having the shank makes up for it. This is a fine dug example of this early button.

Very nice, non dug, artillery corps, 1 piece, issued @ 1814-21 button. This outstanding very crispt detail button, shows an eagle standing on a cannon. A pile of 10 cannon balls under muzzle. The inscription "CORPS" below. The back has full backmark showing with full stand up tight shank. Very nice non dug button.
