BUT01 Federal Ordinance Button - Dug (22mm)
Backmark: ""*~U.S.~*ORDINANCE CORPS"
Outstanding brown patina on this very nice condition ,excavated button.Made Around 1834-1851 by many US makers.These were mainly used in the Mexican War but pop up at Civil War sites quite a bit. This one has a very clear back showing the backmark, tight and complete shank. The face has a very clear surface and it shows very well.Recovery unknown on this one, but got from Lawerence C years ago.

BUT02 Federal(DRAGOON) Mounted Service Button - Dug (14mm)

Smaller size,Very nice condition ,excavated button. Made Around 1830s-1840s,low convex, two piece.These were used again in the Mexican War but pop up at Civil War sites quite a bit. This one has never been cleaned, and shows a dirty back ,although you can discern the backmark,has stand up full shank,but a little bent. The front also has a slightly dirty appearance but has crisp detail, with a good patina, has no pushs or cracks, sound button.Recovery unknown, but got from Lawerence C years ago.
