CONFEDERATE STAFF BUTTONS
Confederate Staff Button
Backmark: ""Blank Back Local(22mm)"
This is an excavated local staff button, made by Casimur Rouyer Of New orleans in very fine condition. It is beautifull and has good detail, although a little dark in patina.Has one star isolated below the eagle, very interesting button. Very classic droop wing style on the front with the 12 stars. The original brass back is solid along with the shank. Another one of my favorite button. Not at all common in this condition. This button was found in a confederate camp in Frankin Tennessee.

Confederate Staff Officers Button
Backmark: ""Blank Back Local(25mm)"
This superb rare local button was intended for confederate officers, and is of confederate wartime manufacture. It has the eagle in the relaxed position on a pedestal, and was made to appear like a three part staff button, but the fat rim is integral to the design. Has a lined field with the 13 stars. This is a coat size two part high convex button, with false rim. Has the blank channel in back, with the stand up shank intact. Has some gilding, with a minor push in front. Another one of my favorite button. Not at all common in this condition. This button was found in Fredericksburg Virginia.

Depicts the crossed cannons with fouled anchor design on a lined field with the "CSN" below. Has a single barrel band on each cannon, with the anchor flutes beyond the cannon. Super detail with barely a nik. The high relief motif jumps right out at you. The back is crisp with good dertail on the backmark. Full stand up shank although a bit loose. This is a very good dug, CS local Artillery button, two piece, convex. Wide border with the roman 'A' on a plain field. This one was found at or near Benner's Hill in Gettysburg. Most likely dropped along the way to benner's hill, before the attach on Culps Hill.Found in 1981 by a local digger, this button is in good shape considering the time in the ground. Has the brass face and the copper back and shank, which is still attached to the back.Local maker marked.

Confederate Artillery Button
Backmark: ""*HT&B*/MANCHESTER"dm
While fairly comman,This is a very good dug, CS Artillery button. It is a two piece, convex, Stippled roman 'A'style button, on a plain field,(25mm) in size. This button has an interesting history. Found by the late Herb Parton, at White Oak Mt,GA. It is listed in Charles Harris,s book page 194. But it was not listed as a stippled button which you can plainly see it is. This button is in good shape with the complete shank but bent over.

CONFEDERATE INFANTRY BUTTONS
Confederate Infantry Button Script "I", "CS", "LOCAL" button
Backmark: ""Blank depressed wide channel, with star"
-Made by Wildt,Superb southern manufactured, infantry script "I","CS","LOCAL"button. This wartime made button was for infantry troops,is two part high convex coat size(22.5mm) that bears the "I" which was inspired by the English design surrounded by "CS". This crude southern "LOCAL" has a brass face with copper back, stand up iron wire shank and is crudely crimped on the back. This is why I love these southern locals. Some small pushs are common, and this one is better than most.
Ref:Albert-CS189A, Tice-CSI261A1(iron shank) - NOT FOR SALE AT THIS TIME

CONFEDERATE RIFLEMAN BUTTONS
Confederate Rifleman Button
Backmark: ""W.Dowler/Superior Quality"dm(22mm)
This is a rare example of a CS riflemans button found out west. Has the stippled roman "R" on a plain field. The face still shows a good amount of gilting but has many small bumps you might say from the soil where it was found. The shank and back are in fine condition, although you can barely see the back mark. I have a lot of providence on this button. It was Found in the early 1980's at the battle site of Mark's Mill, Arkansas from the trans- mississippi theatre of battle.

CONFEDERATE STATE & REGIMENTAL BUTTONS
ALABAMA BUTTONS
Alabama Volunteer Corps Button
Backmark: ""Lambert & Mast/Phil"rmdc
Beautiful dug AVC cuff button 16mm, with a rare backmark, "Lambert & Mast/Phil"rmdc. The face appearance is very good, with a good amount of gilt accenting all facets of the eagle and the lettering. You can even see the feathers clearly. There is a small push on the face right at the shield, but does not detract from the overall patina and general apperance that is fabulous, indicative of the great quality of this dug button found over 40 years ago. The shank is complete, solid, and straight up, and is original to the button.

LOUISIANA BUTTONS
Dug Louisiana Militia Button (23mm)

Backmark:"*SCOVILL, MF'G,CO.*/WATERBURY."
Real nice excavated militia button. Northern made @1860 or so. Has a great looking front with a lot of gilt, and a lot of the lined field showing. There are no dents or bangs on it at all. The back is pretty good although it has some crud on it. The shank is there but bent over. These all had little subtle variations in them, i had a hard time getting this one id. Thought at first it was a la220a5, but if you notice the front, the right small wing has feathers on top and the la220a5 does not, along with the right foot it is not there on the la22a5, so the backmark makes sense for a la 221a1. Neat how these little differances can change a button id.

MISSISSIPPI BUTTONS
MISSISSIPPI "SOUTHRONS" MILITIA BUTTON

It proudly has there name across the edge on an unadorned field. The face has a slight push as you can see. The NC is on a lined background within a ring 10mm in diameter. 7 point stars with the prime one up, a stippled field sits behind the star. These confederate locals show some crudeness in strikes and planchets, and will always show the impression of the strike on the back. This one also has a solid brass shank soldered on the back.
