Where do i begin, when i first started collecting civil war items, i never thought i would collect buttons at all. In fact i never even considered them until a few years after starting. My first buttons were just general union buttons of that period. I think i even bought them on E-bay way back in the early 90's. I went for dug buttons because i thought they were more authentic. At that time i did not even own a button book
